Character Design and Concept Development

This is a fifth grade class I designed using a style that is new to me. I wanted to give them all very unique looks and personalities to make them relatable. I want people to look at these designs and be reminded of the kids they went to elementary school with.

I had to pick a fairytale and a genre and do a mash-up and I chose Prehistoric Cinderella. In this story the ball is replaced by a winter solstice ceremony and the godmother is replaced with a fertility goddess.

Stanley the Monster; A design for a flash animation project.

These are two concepts I presented in DreamWork's DreamCrit program, which allows CSU students to produce their work in front of DreamWorks professionals for feedback.

I have always liked mermaids, and I wanted to design one that diverged from normal Mermaid designs. I tried to incorporate several types of actual fish into the design to create a more original character.

I wanted to design a space concept because I had never done anything futuristic before.
I referenced a lot of retro space art as well as current video games and space equipment.

We were asked to take the story of Little Red Riding Hood and put a twist on it. I chose to set mine in imperial India because Indian brides wear red on their wedding day. The Huntsman is a Sepoy, an indian guard in the British army. These are the characters I chose to design.

This is a turn for a 3-d model I did. This was done freehand, not traced over the model.
